This Weeks Featured Model: Myaann Roland
This weeks featured model is Rocky Point resident Myaann Roland. Originally from L.A by way of Texas, Myaann came to Rocky Point several years ago on vacation, and just never left. Who can blame her? Beaches, sunshine, clubs, great people. Myaann’s living the dream in Puerto Penasco. When not working for the Los Palomas resort, Myaann is Rocky Point’s favorite blogger and club promoter. Her two latest clients are the Reef Beach Club (brought to you by Rocky Point’s Denise Brown) and The Blue Buddha. Both are great additions to the Rocky Point scene. Don’t forget to show up at our Calendar signing party at Chango’s on June 6th, and get Myaann to sign a calendar for you!
A Legendary Weekend in the Making
Wow! As if the GORP Calendar signing party weren’t enough reason to come to Rocky Point next weekend, we’ve got the newly opened Reef Beach Club and Blue Buddha Club (full time RP resident and GORP Calendar model Myaann RAVES about these new clubs), an all night beach party hosted by Evento Penasco, Circus Mexicus with Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers, AND the GORP Calendar signing party. The weekend of June 5th through the 7th is definitely going to go down in Rocky Point LEGEND. If you’re from out of town, don’t forget there’s still time to make reservations for these very special ticket/room/calendar packages from the Las Palmas Resort. And don’t forget, you must email the Las Palmas with the subject “GoRP txt” in the subject line. Email address in the link.
NEW VIDEO! Shooting Aboard the Amelia Rose…
Jesse just finished up this video of our shoots aboard Larry Large’s yacht, The Amelia Rose. We had a blast. Who wouldn’t? A dozen or so models aboard a 112 foot custom yacht? We set sail from the old port in Rocky Point early in the afternoon, and didn’t return until dark. Everyone was wiped out, but man what a great time. Don’t forget, you can meet most of these lovely ladies on June 6th at Chango’s for our calendar release and signing party. Enjoy the video!

This Weeks Featured Model : Somer Pagliaro
This weeks featured model is Somer Pagliaro. Somer is another Arizona resident who makes the short 3.5 hour trip to Rocky Point whenever she can. While in Rocky Point Somer enjoys jet skiing in the Sea of Cortez and dancing at the clubs in El Mirador and Calle 13. Somer will be making that short trip to the beaches of Rocky Point once more for our calendar signing party on June 6th at Chango’s, so don’t miss this chance to be among the first to own this beautiful calendar and have it signed by Somer and all her friends. In the meantime, enjoy these images taken on our last trip to Puerto Penasco, Mexico.
Featured Model of the Week: Jessica Kelley
This weeks featured model is Jessica Kelley. Jessica won a slot during our second contest at Chango’s Bar and Grill in Rocky Point, Mexico. Not only is she a beautiful model but she’s also a very talented singer, song writer, and musician as well, which she proved when she got up and sang several songs with the band on the night of the contest. Jessica is a resident of Phoenix where she works at a local restaurant, and performs her music whenever and wherever she can. Jessica loves visiting Rocky Point at every opportunity, and she’ll have that opportunity again for our calendar release party on June 6th at Chango’s. This is gonna be a weekend FILLED with great music, as this is also Circus Mexicus weekend with Roger Clyne and the Peacemaker. The show will be on the same day as our release party, right across the street. Rumor has it that some of the artists from Circus Mexicus’ opening acts will be at Chango’s for our party, and who knows, maybe we’ll coax a song or two out of Jessica. In the meantime, enjoy these pictures of Jessica!
This Weeks Featured Model: Ana Lourdes Moreno Cano
An entry from our “Last Chance” contest on April 24, Ana heard about our contest and calendar from some of her model friends in Hermosillo, and travelled all the way to Rocky Point in order to compete in our contest, and are we glad she did. While Ana is from Hermosillo where she currently lives with her family while she pursues a career in runway modeling, Ana frequently travels to Puerto Penasco on holiday where she enjoys dancing at the clubs in El Mirador with her friends, and spending time on the beaches.
Here’s a sampling of some of the great images this young lady helped produce. We hope you enjoy viewing them as much as we enjoyed creating them.

Don Giannitti Takes an Image from Setup to PP.
Here’s an excerpt from a post on Don’s website about a shot he did while his workshop helped us with our recent calendar shoot in Rocky Point Mexico. Don takes the image from setup to post processing. It’s a very informative, and well written article.

Well, let’s look at this first image. It is one I did on Sunday and features Laura. I rarely get to shoot at the workshops, but the guys were all shooting some shots of the calendar models and I had a moment to set something up. Dan helped Jerry and I make this shot. We used a Dynalite 400WS Monobloc with a Vagabond for power. Light modifier is a 22″ beauty dish and it was on a stand that we improvised into a boom for the carbon-based-voice-activated light stands….

Wow what a Weekend!

Well we’re home from shooting the “Girls of Rocky Point 2009=2010 Calendar”, and wow what a time we had. In addition to our events at Chango’s, we had photo shoots going on all over town, including aboard Larry Large’s 112 foot yacht, “The Amelia Rose”. Stay tuned over the next couple weeks as we post new images of all of lovely calendar models taken by our talented group of photographers and attendees from Don Giannitti’s Lighting Essential Workshops.

And don’t forget our Calendar Release and Signing Party at Chango’s Bar and Grill on June 6th 2009. If the date rings a bell, that’s because it’s the same date as the big Circus Mexicus show in Rocky Point. Circus Mexicus is Roger Clyne and the Peacemaker’s legendary all day show, which should prove to be even MORE legendary now that the venue has moved to the large lot across from Chango’s, and Chango’s is hosting the event. So come to the big show early, and hang out with our lovely calendar models, and get yourself a signed edition of the first EVERY “Girls of Rocky Point” calendar.
Two New Facebook Events Posted
We’ve posted two new Facebook events. One for our “Last Chance Contest” and “Meet and Greet the Models” event on Friday April 24th. at Chango’s Bar in Rocky Point. You can RSVP to that event HERE.

New Contests at Chango’s Announced
“Last Chance Contest” and “Meet and Greet the Models” event on Friday April 24th
We had so much fun the last three time, we just have to have one more. Regrettably, some of our models will not be able to travel to Rocky Point for our Calendar shoots on April 25th and 26th, so we’ve got some open slots, and we’ll be holding a “Last Chance to be a Calendar Model” contest at Chango’s on Friday April 24th. If you missed our contests last time, now is your chance. Just register on our registration page, and show up for the show, and then be ready for some terrific fun on Saturday and Sunday when you’ll be photographed by some of Phoenix’s best fashion and beauty photographers. You may even be selected for a shoot aboard the 112 foot custom built yacht, “The Amelia Rose”.
A lot of our previous winners will also be at the show, and although they won’t be competing (they’re already winners!), they’ll be hanging out, dancing, and having a good time with the rest of the crowd.
“Cover Girl Contest” Saturday April 25th
Join us on Saturday April 25th, when we select an announce our Calendar Cover Girl from among our previous winners, and any winners we pick on Friday night’s contest. This show is going to ROCK even more than the last contest did. If you were there, you KNOW what I mean! Do NOT miss this show!
New Announcements and New Pics
Just a quick post to remind everyone that we will be back in Rocky Point with all of our lovely models, in April. Not only will we be scheduling photo shoots all around Rocky Point beaches, beach houses, the Malecone, Calle 13, etc, but we will holding more exciting events at Chango’s. One will be to select additional models to appear in our calendar, and another to pick the COVER GIRL for our calendar, so stay tuned for these very special announcements.
Also, a reminder for all you Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers fans out there. If you can’t wait until the big Circus Mexicus show on June 6th (the same day as “The Girls of Rocky Point Calendar” release and signing party), RCPM is playing THIS Friday April 3rd, at the Tempe Music Festival. I’ll be there, shooting the show and posting a write up about it.
And now, because it wouldn’t be a GORP post without pictures, here are a couple pics of Reyna, one of our lovely calendar models. These shots were taken by Jerry O’Connor, one of our staff Photogs on our last trip to RP. They were shot at one of the gorgeous beach houses at the Las Palmas resort on Sandy Beach. Stay tuned for more pics coming soon.

Contest Winners Galleries are Up AND a Special Announcement!
Well we’ve posted a lot of new pictures of our contest winners to date (don’t forget, at LEAST one more contest on March 14th). You can check them all out on the Contest Winners page. We shot all of these beach shots on Sandy Beach. Our favorite beach in Rocky Point. We were in front of our beach house at the Las Palmas resort. For our money, the best resort and the best beach houses in Puerto Penasco, Mexico. They’ve got gorgeous condos too, and best of all, they are all walking distance from CHANGO’S! If you’re thinking of coming to the newly announced, big Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers show in June, rumor has it this is where the band will be staying, but don’t quote me on that….yet.
Now be sure to pay extra special attention to Myann’s gallery, because this girl is so much more than a pretty face, she is also our newest contributer and editor! We love Myann’s blog, and we are thrilled that she’ll be contributing here with all the latest news on clubs, restaurants, and parties happening in Puerto Penasco, and just in time for Spring Break 09!

Now we love Serious, the mans got flow, but he can’t speak a word of Spanish….wait…maybe he can. I didn’t ask. When Myann said she’d serve as our Spanish speaking co-host I JUMPED at the chance!

We’ve got great talent hosting. and performing, a lot of gorgeous girls pre-registered (we know they’re gorgeous because we added an upload photo feature to the submission form!), and we’re expecting a lot more to register on the day of the show. Well it seems like we just got home and it’s almost time to head BACK to Mexico. Back to Chango’s to see the contest and hang out with great people, take pictures of beautiful women, and hang out at the beach. Last week was great, but this weekend is shaping up to be even BETTER! We’ve got a lot of buzz going, and of course it’s the first weekend of Spring Break 2009 in Rocky Point Mexico! And of course this weekend, we have Hip Hop Artists Serious and R-Vel performing along with the regular house band. These guys REALLY rock a live show.

Wow! Time flies and it’s only 4 more days until the first contest at Chango’s to pick the first of 18 women who will appear in “The Girls of Rocky Point Calendar”! We’ve got a ton of confrmed guests on facebook alone, and we’ve gotten contestant submissions from as far away as Hermasillo and the U.S. The contest is open to women who reside, and visit Rocky Point. The weather in Puerto Penasco is gorgeous right now, and is expected to be even better this weekend with a high on Saturday of 77 degrees. PERFECT beach weather.
If you’re a woman thinking about entering remember, this is the first contest before Spring Break 2009. Your chances of being picked to be in the calendar will be best if you enter early, and enter often. The contests being held during spring break are bound to be more competitive. You can enter as many contests as you wish, until you are picked, or the contests is over. There is no entry fee. So enter online now, or at Chango’s on February 28th.
Clothing Designers, Manufacturers, and Boutique Owners
Are you a clothing designer, manufacturer or store owner? Are you looking for fashion shots for your line or store? We’re looking for partners in these areas to provide wardrobe (especially swimwear) for our calendar shoot in April, and prizes for our winning contestants. In addition to swimwear, we’re looking for sport, casual, and evening wear. You will receive high quality fashion shots which you may use for your own promotions, promotional consideration on our calendar, and on our website as well. If you’re are interested in participating, contact us via the contestant submission page or leave a comment.
Hey Photographers! You Have a Chance to Participate!
Don Giannati has just opened up entries for his Lighting Essentials Mexico Workshop. Most of the primary photographers for this calendar have participated in this workshop in one form or another, and I think we can honestly say it’s been one of the best workshops we have attended. Not only do you learn a lot about lighting, but you do it in a beautiful location and with some beautiful models. Get more information here, and sign up for the workshop here.
This year is extra special because “The Girls of Rocky Point Calendar” is being shot during the workshop and you have the opportunity to be involved. The shoots are early morning and late afternoon - before and after the workshop - and are totally voluntary. If you want the experience of working with models in a professional shooting atmosphere, this will be an outstanding experience. There are 5 shooters involved, and you can work with them on the shoots. You will be able to make some shots of your own at these shoots.
